Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport agreed to allow Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal Company Limited to organize a trial for container ships of up to 145,000 DWT to reduce the load entering and leaving TC-HICT port; The trial period is until December 31, 2023.
The Ministry of Transport assigned the Vietnam Maritime Administration to appraise and approve the plan to ensure maritime safety for container ships with a tonnage of up to 145,000 DWT to reduce the load entering and leaving TC-HICT port and direct the Maritime Administration. Hai Phong only permits container ships with a tonnage of up to 145,000 DWT to reduce their load entering and leaving TC-HICT port when absolutely ensuring safety, maritime security and environmental protection.
The Vietnam Maritime Administration was also assigned by the Ministry of Transport to strictly control the arrangement of ship pilots, the number of tugboats and other conditions under the approved Plan.
n this document, the Ministry of Transport requests Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal Co., Ltd. to invite a competent and experienced consultant to organize the development of a plan to ensure maritime safety for container ships. with a tonnage of up to 145,000 DWT, reducing the load entering and leaving TC-HICT port; submit to the Vietnam Maritime Administration for approval according to regulations. After the end of the trial period, TC-HICT is responsible for summarizing test results and proposing further solutions to the Ministry of Transport.
According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, Hai Phong Newport International Container Terminal (TC-HICT) is a joint venture between Saigon Newport Corporation (Naval Service), MITSUI O.S.K Lines Co., Ltd. Wan Hai Lines (Taiwan, China) and Itochu Corporation (Japan). Since TC-HICT came into operation, import and export goods of the Northern region have been transported directly to the Americas and Europe without having to be transshipped through other ports as before.
